Not what it seems

A pretty orchid in wet, tropical Singapore.
Unfortunately it hasn't rained since mid January and the effects are sad to see.
Many trees and shrubs are suffering or have died, grass verges have all but disappeared and what is usually a green and tropical city, looks brown and dry.
The great swathes of purple Bougainvillea that used to hang over roadway from pedestrian bridges are now just desiccated leaves .
Rain is forecast this weekend and it cannot come a day too soon for the flora.
