See a man about a dog

One of our friends had told us about a 'greyhound' seen running around one of the back roads in the Malton area for over a week, no one had been able to catch it. We went shopping after T had finished work and on the way back spotted a small dark coloured terrier near some woodland. We pulled over but it ran away from us towards a farm so we left it.

Further down the road we spotted a woman standing by her car with the four way flashers running, we stopped to ask if she had lost a dog and she said no but there is one on the road just there. We looked and it was a small brindle whippet who looked terrified. We managed to coax her to come to us and put her in the car and went back to the farm where the terrier had headed. We knocked on the door of one of the cottages and they told us the dogs had been running around the area for the past couple of weeks but no one had managed to catch them.

We went back and tried to catch the terrier, we caught sight of it a few times but it wasn't keen to be caught so with the light fading we had to give up. We took the whippet home and have notified the police and the local rescue centres but no one has reported them missing so far. She is going to stay with us for the time being until there is a space in the rescue centre we support or perhaps we will keep her if no one claims her, our two have already accepted her. We are going to take her back to the place we found her over the next few days and see if we can catch the terrier too.

The general consensus is that they have been dumped together, it is hard to believe some one could do this to such a lovely animal let alone two.
