The fool on the hill

Waiting for a fix

At the end of last year some clever people modified some gliding software to enable an Android powered Kobo ereader to be used with a GPS module and make a brilliant lightweight and cheap flying instrument (the board handily has a serial port on it ready for the GPS module to be soldered in).
I already had a module and the Kobo is 30 quid at WHSmiths and the software - xcsoar - is open source. I love the egalitarian aspect of modern technology (obviously the likes of Apple are the antithesis of this sort of thinking and that's what I so dislike about them.)
