Back on my long wooden planks

Sorry about how long this photo took. I just really hate it and I didn't take my camera on the shlopes today, so no footage there.

First day of skiing! We all got up early and managed to overcome the faffing to hit the slopes before most others. Kris, Tom and me stuck to VT for the day, in an ever-changing group of skiiers and snowboarders. Tom and me hit a large amount of rim jumps (max airtime!), enough to stack it a couple times. Lunch was paninis and a chill slopeside restaurant. The weather is perfect, sunshine all day (ALL DAY) and reasonable temperature. The snow is decent as well which makes for good times. Feels super good to be back to doing this, after missing out last year. It took a little bit to find my footing again properly, particularly because my skis are too long (1m83). Still, its amazing to be tearing up the slopes again, with the ever-present slight over-recklessness which defines my long hauls.
When we were finally satisfied, we headed to Bar 360 for apres-ski. Now that's a concept I've never experienced on family trips. A slope-side chalet turns into an outdoors bar and dancefloor, with a live DJ on stage, strobes, massive speakers and everything. The ambiance was cool, and we sat down for some beers with the boys and some new friends Tom knew. Beers was a bad choice though, considering how cold it was...
We hit the slope and made it back to the flat in time for pre-drinks, once more hosted by yours truly. Zoe and Ant Scott came by, with their respective rooms, which packed the room and resulted in great games of **** the doodler, **** you, Karma and the return of the fresher classic Ring of Fire. Four years' of uni's worth of rules have acumulated to quite an amalgamation. Between the yells of No EG, boshing, the A-B rule and Ace Face, it's hard to keep track of what's going on. For the record, all four of those rules came from very different crowds, but it's seeing them combined along with many others which is representative of 4th year in what's even slightly nostalgic. Anyway, pre-drinks was good times, and we hit up Malaysia, the underground club which claims to be the largest in the French Alps and has the ability to charge €6.50 per pint. Nonetheless, it was a mental night, lots of dancing with plenty of great friends!

peace
