Wearing of the Green

New Zealand native praying mantis, Orthodera novaezealandiae. This the first adult I have seen this season. The flower buds are Viburnum tinus.

I wanted a green picture for St Patrick's Day and went off on a tour of the valleys to find an emerald green hillside like this, but there were none. I spent a fruitless hour playing around with glass dishes and my emerald green top. It turned out that I needed only to go into the garden.
