Red and green

I walked past this old butcher's shop, now closed, on my way back from the village shop this morning. I think it was probably painted blood red to indicate that it was a butcher's shop. The colour is fading now, but the other interesting detail is the green terracotta drain pipe running down to the street. These are traditional and rarely seen these days, although they are more common further south in Catalunya in places like Collioure.

This building is in Grande rue, one of the narrowest streets in the village, hence the angle of this shot!
