Desecration or Salvation?

This field always gives me a feeling of isolation and wilderness. Over the years I have run and walked through the field along the banks of a meandering stream surrounded by woodland.

However over the winter the Environment Agency have commandeered it as they develop a much needed flood scheme for Pickering. Trees have been cut down the banks of the stream reinforced with iron girders.

I am hoping that once finished the best of both worlds will be achieved with protection for those properties at risk and a return to the peace and solitude it once afforded to local walkers.
