Texture

Narcissus pseudonarcissus forma lobularis, the Lent Lily, right on time this year. This is the form which is sometimes considered to be native to Britain. In truth, although we do not know for certain, it is most likely an introduced plant which has long been naturalised here. This narcissus has a corona shaped like the bell end of a trumpet, a true Trumpet Daffodil.

I love the texture of these daffodils, the petals almost crimped. I have an especial soft spot for the bi-coloured forms which grew in our garden when I was a small boy.
