Speakeasy

The Speakeasy is a cracking night's entertainment. It's held in the lovely little Netherbow Theatre at the Scottish Storytelling Centre, under John Knox House on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. The shows are normally hosted by the fab Jo Caulfield. There's more info about Jo on Wikipedia.

The evening is around two hours of standup comedy, talk, song, poetry and drama from writers, comedians, magicians, poets, singers and more comedians, and some well-known names have taken to the stage. (Ian Rankin, anyone? He was wickedly funny.)

It's an incredible bargain at £6 a ticket for such a massive slice of fun and general awesomeness. Funny? Yes. Sad? Occasionally. Thought-provoking? Often. Essential? Absolutely!
