Rest & Be Thankful

Decided to experience drizzle and dampness in another part of the country so took a drive up Loch Lomond and to Loch Fyne. It was just as wet.

Paused at 'Rest and Be Thankful' and the shot is from the stone which commemorates the transfer of the road from military to civic authorities 1814. It has been plagued by land slips over the past few weeks, months and years with long detours put in place.

It is a brilliant name for a place on such a road. Goes with other names such as 'Lang Whang' and 'Devils Elbow'. My favourite is the road between Stonehaven and Banchory - the 'Slug' road. We need to get a bit more poetic in our naming.
