To Pause at Hall Caine Airport

The former aerodrome called Hall Caine was never on a par with Heathrow or Gatwick but in its way played a vital part in the development of air services in the 1930's.

It also played a particular part in the air defences of Great Britain in the second world war. I made reference to this in my blip of 1st October 2013.

Unless you particularly look for it you will not spot this plaque situate on the old stone entrance gateway to the airfield. The cars speed by and the occupants are no doubt oblivious to what went on.

For those that would like to know more about Hall Caine there is a write up here That is assuming that one can get the link to work!
