Hoverfly

This fly is small and slim, and it feeds on nectar and pollen.  It  hovers in front of the flowers.  It also darts short distances faster than I can see.  The narrow abdomen has black and dull yellow stripes on the top.  Until I saw this photo I didn't guess they were the target of taggers.  

Today has been wet, with a fine mist that wets everything but the soil.  Cool enough to consider lighting the fire.

I cropped this a bit to bring the fly closer, but I think it's still quite good in large.
