Jimmy Shand was a Scottish musician who played Scottish dance music on the accordion. He was born in East Wemyss Fife, son of a farm ploughman turned miner and one of nine children.

In 1955 he recorded the hit single " BlueBell Polka" which reached number 20 in the charts. He had a musical career spanning more than 70 years. In 1978 he appeared in This is your life with Eamonn Andrews.
