Scentsational

Mum's birthday today. We went to Castle Douglas for a spot of lunch and shopping, and Sarah met a new man :-)
Then to the Red Kite Feeding Station at Bellymack Farm. Over 70 kites, the most I've ever seen. An interesting conversation with a farmer who saw us looking at the chickens in his trailer. He was telling us that they are being bred to fulfil the growing demand from supermarkets - 6 weeks from hatching to dispatching and in that time they never see the light of day. The poor things looked pretty miserable, some were deformed and one was already dead. I would rather be a red kite than a battery hen any day...

Birds apart, we have enjoyed some pleasurable scents today... trying out perfumes, buying spices, celeriac and a pot of pinks.

Now to make something mouthwatering for dinner.
