First Practice of the First Race of 2014

The day is fianlly here, we get to see the new cars and the new drivers in public. We picked up the elusive tickets from a hotel near the circuit, I really couldn't make up this mess! This is the first and last time I buy through the official site. After missing a couple of hours of random cars like vintage, mazdas, porsches and V8s it was time to buy ear plugs, get the factor 50 on and sit and wait with all the other fans from around the globe.

In a different spot to the last couple of days, we had a much needed gravel trap in front of us. Fortunately for me and unfortunately for Lewis, he broke down just beside us on his first lap. This picture shows the cockpit of the car with the keep fighting michael hashtag for twitter and other social media. Michael Schumacher is still in hospital after a skiing accident back in December, as far as I am aware he is still in an enduced coma while his brain recovers. Best wishes to him, I wouldn't wish that on anyone, not even the man I wished would crash in every race he was in.

So it is true what people have been saying, the cars are really quiet with the new engines, all theatre has been lost from F1, V8 Supercars are louder and the 911's are about the same and probably more impressive. Quite sad really. Practice didn't throw up any real surprises for us but it was still a geat day out watching the worlds greatest drivers in their natural habitat.
