St Columba's chapel

I've been on retreat this week, in Bishop's House, Iona. There was no WiFi, no 3G and only an intermittent signal on my phone, so I'm catching up not only on the rest of my life but also on my blips! This is the chapel that is at the heart of Bishop's House, established by Bishop Chinnery-Haldane in 1894 when the adjacent Iona Abbey was still in ruins. The photo is taken from the gallery at the rear of the chapel, which is used as a quiet place for prayer and meditation.

It is a wonderful place to stay, with a complete sense of isolation from the world outside - especially when the ferry from Mull goes off in the gales and there is no way of return!
