Through my Eyes

Bald Eagle

I'm very lucky that there is a pair of bald eagles who have a nest not too far from my home. We think the chicks have just hatched, as we now see the parents bringing food back to the nest. This is wonderful news, as they were on the brink of extinction. In 1973, there was only one nesting pair in New Jersey. Currently, there are more than 100 pairs nesting statewide. It is still considered an endangered species in New Jersey, but this is still news to celebrate!

Look closely at the size of the branches used to build the nest!
