Circular Engineering (2014.080)

This week's challenge is the shooting of circles at 50mm (plus or minus one or two for those of us without a 50mm prime).

Those of you who know me outside of Blip, or who have been following me for a while, will know that I'm a bit of a petrolhead.

Ferrari's 458 has always struck me for the precision and grace of its wheels. For a car with such performance (four times more powerful than a typical saloon car) there's so little material in the 20 inch diameter wheels. The engineering in them is incredible.

And behind the wheel, clamped by the big red brake caliper, a carbon-ceramic disc, which exchanges vast amounts of money for massive stopping power and much reduced weight.

This car is the special edition "458 Speciale", and is full of such engineering detail.

Thanks to Graypaul Edinburgh Ferrari for allowing me to wander around shooting their lovely lovely stock.
