What goes up must come down

This little robin seemed to be wondering what was going on as a heavy hail storm hit us early this morning. In fact he was posturing to a robin further along the fence. This is a sign of aggression rather than courtship with the red breast being a warning. It will only attack or show aggression when another male enters t's territory and will actually fight to the death. Luckily their song, the posturing or a short chase is usually enough to see the other robin off.

It's now a lovely afternoon. The hail showers have passed for now. Managed to clear the area around the pond and give it a dig. The anemone's and grape hyacinths are out and the tulips are pushing through. I planted the violas I bought from Morrisons , good value at two packs of 18 for £5.

Looking forward to chicken and leek pie for dinner :)
