3... 2... 1... Thunderbirds are GO!

Well maybe not, but the Scott Monument always reminds me of Thunderbird 1 :-)

Another iconic image from Edinburgh. Completed in 1844, at 200 feet 6 inches it is "the largest monument to a writer in the world" and is open to the public, there are 287 steps inside that takes you up to the top giving great views on central Edinbugh. Although Charles Dickens apparently wasn't impressed he said "I am sorry to report the Scott Monument a failure. It is like the spire of a Gothic church taken off and stuck in the ground." This shot was taken from South St. David Street looking South towards Princes Street at the bottom and Jenner's apartment store on the right, I was patient and took a number of shots, managing to time this one with no traffic.
