Seed Windows

We bought these yesterday at The Rebuilding Center in Portland. A few years ago, we bought a door under the same circumstances - we had no idea where we were going to use it, we just liked it. We bought the door, then figured we needed to build something around it. We eventually put it into our potting shed. These leaded stained glass windows, Charles Rennie Mackintosh design by one expert's estimate, were 50 bucks apiece. We found some similar at three to four times as much at an antique store in town. Our guess here is that if we buy the windows we'll build a house around them. That's our plan. We're looking at green building plans now, something to live off the grid, or nearly off the grid in Oakland. I imagine these being placed in either an east wall to catch the sunrise, or a west wall to catch the sunset, or maybe one in each. That's why I sat them up in the back yard facing the rising sun this morning…let's see what they look like with the sun behind them. 50 bucks…better build something.
