At a horse sale, Leominster

I've never been to a horse sale, until today. The noise of the auctioneer's talk, surrounded by people who know horses (I don't), and the quiet intensity of the buyers... Going going, gone! And the next horse is led in to the ring.
It's quite an event, but sadly the horses are mostly worth little, the auctioneer almost always taking the bidding down from only 100 pounds or so to as low as 50 quid. Shoes cost more than these fine animals.
After the sale ends, the horses are kept in pens awaiting their new owners. They look a little lost. Man outside the pens, a horse inside, seems to sum up the situation..
