Tear Gas

On this trip I've had to learn how to manage being caught in teargas.
I really never thought that would be a part of my education, but it has been.

One Muslim family who took us in during the trouble taught us much about this weapon. How not to cover our faces with cloth because the chemicals would be in the cloths already. How to cut open an onion and breathe it in and that helps clear the effects of the tear gas.

And to see that the parents here, during difficult seasons, send their children to school with a small onion just in case.

This is normal in the West Bank.
