The Kelpies

It was a beautiful day, so as I was passing Falkirk this afternoon I stopped to take a few shots of the Kelpies. I was spoiled for choice in my shots, but selected this one as they look like Greek mythological creatures about to come to life and rise from the side of the canal.

Although not everything is finished yet, it is possible to get a sneak preview of the colossal 30 metres high Andy Scott sculpture of two horses’ heads standing between the Forth and Clyde canal and the M9 motorway. These were designed as a monument to the horse power used in Scotland throughout its history. They don’t officially open to the public until 21 April, but now they are finished they can be enjoyed close up from across the canal.
