Viator Fabula

By Heliflyer

Muckle Flugga

The most northerly British lighthouse. Unoccupied now, it's on a most terrifying peak of rock at the foot of which boils the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean vying for supremacy over this remote location.

There are two ways onto this rock - via a truly treacherous sets of steps cut into the rock which run down the spine of the rock on which the lighthouse is built, or via helicopter - there's a helipad just to the front of the lighthouse as you look at it from this angle.

Even the helicopter arrival is fraught with danger, as the wind currents can be brutal as they roil the air around the helipad.

A truly dramatic location.
