Into the storm

We took Fionne for her first visit to the Wayland's Smithy and the White Horse at Uffington. It's one of my favourite places and has a 'feel good' factor about it.

The Wayland's Smithy is a Neolithic chambered long barrow. Excavations in the 20th century revealed that the barrow you see today covers an earlier burial structure, and human remains found on the site indicate that 14 people were buried there between 3590 and 3550 BC.

The blip is a very brave paraglider flying over the Uffington White Horse, into the eye of the storm.

The whole area is steeped in ancient history and well worth a visit if ever in Oxfordshire.
