Sunlight

Breaking with my usual practice of taking time with camera and tripod, this was grabbed through a plane window with the iPad's built in camera.

On the second half of the flight back to Edinburgh from Heathrow, I had been treated to an exquisite display of the oranges and pinks of the sunset above the cloud layer. But it was on dropping through the clouds that we could see the sun exploding onto the underside of the cloud bank. Over-exposed, highlights burnt out, slightly shaky, but nevertheless spectacular. It is a privilege to sometimes witness these moments of natural beauty.

The squiggly silver ribbon on the ground is the River Clyde south-east of Carstairs Junction.
