Beauly Priory

Founded by monks (A' Mhanachainn - Gaelic for place of the monks) of the Valliscaulian order in 1230. The Priory lies alongside the river where the monks had extensive fishing rights for food & income.

The wall of the vault is under inspection by Historic Scotland at present as it's suffered damage during cold, wet winters (although the latest winter has been exceptionally mild).

Bit of a grey day today but the jackdaws are cackling away in the trees at the entrance to the Priory - getting ready for young by tidying up their nests.
