Inky black

Tim and I had the day off work today (I'm helping him use up his 2013 annual leave) - we had to get out of the flat to let the workmen get on with everything, so after we'd met with Richard briefly at 9am, we set off in the car to go for a walk round Ightham Mote and Oldbury Hill in Kent. It was a really lovely, and not too taxing walk (6 and a half miles), and we rounded it off with a coffee/hot chocolate in the tea room at Ightham Mote afterwards.

I took this photo as we walked through Fish Ponds woods. There are several of these ponds in there, and this one in particular had completely inky black water in it - making it incredibly reflective. It was really strange to look into the water; you really couldn't even see an inch down into it - made me feel a bit odd!

Drove back home, dropped the car off and then had a little mooch into Greenwich Park. We went for another coffee (or in my case, tea and cake) at the café in the Royal Observatory, then wandered back home through Blackheath village. Got in a little while after the workmen had packed up and left, by the looks of things. They've been sorting out our lumpy floor today - they're doing a great job.
