Wingless Wonder

My scribblings have recently taken me into the iconic territory of the 1966 World Cup, and I've found myself sitting down and watching the legendary final in its entirety for the very first time. Though I must have watched the highlights a thousand times as a child, it's a different experience to hear the joy and expectation of the crowd in those dying minutes of normal time, followed by the deflation and despair when West Germany equalised in the final moments, and then all the ecstasy and uncertainty of extra time. All the more so given that it'll never happen again.
