U-Bahn München: 33/100 Hauptbahnhof (U1/U2/U7/U8)

Munich underground: 33/100 Hauptbahnhof (U1/U2/U7/U8)

Today's station is one of the two Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) underground stations. It was opened in 1980, four years before the other underground station underneath Munich's central station. Design-wise the station is very different to both the other stations opened in the 1980 as well as the stations along the U1 and U2 lines. It has two island platforms with two tracks each. The silver columns, which hold the ceiling, are lined between the inner tracks.

Today's blip shows a southbound train leaving Hauptbahnhof underground station, photographed from the platform for northbound trains.

It's not the ugliest of stations, but certainly can't compete against such jewels as the last station in my series at Hasenbergl.

Also, my Tokina 11mm wide angle lens is residing in Singapore with my brother for the moment - I already regret giving him this a little.
