Dai Urnal-Instants

By DaiUrnal

Jodie and Jonathan...

...are my neighbours. I'd met Jonathan whenever he's in Bath; this was the first time I'd met his wife.

As a result I now know the Chinese for 'Owl' is 'Mao tao ying.' As ever with Mandarin, the meaning of the word is dependent on the tone with which it is spoken. In this case, it means something like 'cat's-eyed eagle' I believe.

The location is the Biergarten of the Larkhall Inn. Out of shot is a bench nestling beneath a tree. I was tickled by the inscription on the bench:

"I FOUGHT THE LAWN, AND THE LAWN WON."
