Bone of my bone

Beautiful words from Sir Alexander Gray carved into the side of the Parliament building.

They make me think of one of my favourite books, Sunset Song by Lewis Grassic Gibbon. It's loved and loathed probably in equal measure but sentimental or not, it still has to be one of the great works of Scottish literature.

I particularly love the description of 'English Chris' and 'Scottish Chris' and how she feels torn between the educated, rational side of her nature and the instinctive sense of home and familiarity.

Sometimes I catch myself speaking in business jargon or feel very stressed and wish I was sitting on Reiss Beach just being quiet for a while!
