Gate Theatre & Prince Albert Pub, Notting Hill

The Gate is an example of an 'off-west end' theatre, which are theatres right across London that present professional small scale productions. Others are The Finborough, The Rosemary Branch and The Brockley Jack.

The Gate Theatre was originally in Covent Garden until it was destroyed in WWII. It was re-established in 1979 above the Prince Albert Pub in Notting Hill . Jude Law and Rachel Weisz have appeared here.

The artistic directors of the theatre have included the film director Stephen Daldry who directed The Hours, Billy Elliot and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

Worth going to visit.
