shark tooth rapids on Waitoto river safari

Wayne took us on this great river safari (day 25 of our New Zealand holiday).

I don't think I stopped grinning - the jet boat is a fantastic form of transport, which can go through very shallow water, and was designed to get up NZ rivers quickly and easily.

From the sea through to the rainforest (with an interesting walk through the foliage including sampling of a peppery leaf used by Maoris).

The picture is of the shark's tooth rapids, where we finished our tour, although Wayne made us all grab on for life by revving the jetboat engine and shouting 'hold on' so we all assumed we were going to jetboat up the rapids!

Good fun. Exceedingly good fun.
