This one's for Euan!

Early evening saw us in Stirling and I spotted one of the big coal trains passing through. So we just had to stop quickly and grab a few shots before it escaped us. A big diesel engine led the parade with over twenty of these huge 100 ton coal hoppers rumbling along behind. If you do the arithmetic that adds up to over 2000 tons of coal, all heading for Longannet power station and this is just one of several trainloads required daily. This coal is brought in by ship to Hunterston on the Clyde and these trains bring it right across Scotland just so that we can, among other things, keep out laptops charged up. And those trains are also a source of joy and wonder to our three-year old grandson who just revels in all train stuff. Maybe, just maybe, his Grandpa is as bad or possibly even worse!
