Re-cladding

I saw this in the village yesterday and thought that it would make a good blip for today. This is house is having insulated cladding added to the outside of the house - then it will be roughcast to make it weather-tight. It is part of a move supported by the local community land trust to improve the energy efficiency of houses in this area and to reduced fuel poverty. This area has one of the highest occurrence of fuel poverty in the country (which is when a high proportion of your household income needs to be spent on the basic necessities of warmth etc). These old house are stone-built, so they have no cavity-wall that can be insulated, so the materials go on the outside. Yet another benefit of community land-ownership bringing development decisions to a locally responsible level.
