Al Green - For The Good Times (1972)
Both Sinatra and Elvis have covered this, among a multitude of others, but this is my favourite version of Kris Kristofferson's song (from his 1970 debut album). It was Ray Price who had the first hit with this in the US country charts of 1970. Al Green cut his reworking of the song at the Royal Studios in Memphis TN for the album I'm Still In Love With You, with the studio house band that included the Memphis Horns and legendary drummer Al Jackson Jnr from Booker T & the MGs.
