If you can't beat them...

Day 6: Wolverhampton OAPs Angling competition.

Back on the S & W heading towards Great Haywood. Not far past Gailey Top Lock we came across lines of anglers spaced at carefully measured distances part. It had to be a competition. Angles can become a little upset when several tonnes of steel pushed by throbbing engine goes where they don;t want it to go! Generally slowing down and keeping to the centre of the canal keeps them happy.

To make sure it was a competition I asked the first angler. His reply was "Oh yes! Wolverhampton Old Farts -sorry OAPs!" Well they were certainly a friendly bunch we passed at least a couple of dozen or more and each and every one had a cheerful greeting for us. We must have been doing the right thing!

As we passed the last of the anglers we passed through a bridge (why oh why did the canal builders arrange bridges on corners of the canal! Most seem to be!) I looked back and quite liked the composition of this shot, which I had to take one handed as I was trying to steer at the same time.
