The Brave and the Bold!

In full spate .. and then some! Today was our first walk with the club for some time, due to our involvement with curling.
It was an 8.9 mile, circular walk, around the small town of Comrie in Perthshire - all done in the pouring rain. We walked about a half mile along the road in the direction of Ballaig, then turned up quite a steep path through Laggan Wood.
What goes up, must come down and just short of 4 miles, we were in a valley and needing to cross Lurg Burn, a tributary of the River Lednock.
The burn was too deep and fast to walk across/through, which must often be the case as this "bridge" has been errected. It could almost be Scotland's first "via Ferrata" (despite that claim being made in Kinlochleven, near Glencoe on 28th March '14 :)). The way to get accross was to hold on to the iron rope above the wooden structure and then walk sideways between the slats, hoping you didn't end up in the water.
Several people decided not to chance it and retraced their steps. One chap did have a mishap. Deciding he didn't want to try while wearing his rucksack, he took it off and tossed it to the other bank. As soon as it left his hand, I could tell it wasn't going to make it and it went straight into the burn. Chaos ensued as several men ran after it and managed to stop it before it went over a small waterfall. A rather exciting day, despite being absolutely drookit(Scots for drenched) at the end of the day
