The world's tallest totem pole

Several totem poles are supposedly the tallest in the world. This is one of them, and is in Beacon Hill Park in Victoria. It's 127.5 ft (38.862 m) tall and was carved by Mungo Martin, a very famous Kwakwaka'wakw carver, with Henry Hunt and David Martin. Very difficult to get a photo of the entire pole, and I've posted a couple of not very good ones on flickr, here and here.. You can see the small figure of the man sitting on the bench, and that gives an idea of the size of the pole. It's a very impressive totem pole, and this is part of the detail at the bottom.
Danny Bhoy was so funny! I haven't heard G laugh that loud and so much for awhile - but then I could hardly hear him over my own laughter! The audience was very enthusiastic and appreciative. So glad we made a last minute to get tickets - and the seats we got were great! Another fun outing in the city.
