Brainwaves

We went to two talks at the Science Festival tonight, both held at Summerhall in the dissection room- Summerhall was the old Dick Vet School, it's still got all the feel of an old school.

The first talk was a BBC Scotland Brainwaves programme called 'Sensory Dining', it's going out at lunchtime on 14th April (and will be on iplayer). The highlight was that we got to taste beer, and Andy got asked his opinion. This was his second radio a appearance of the day, Andy was also interviewed earlier today by a radio station in Fife for a project through his work.

The second talk was 'Re:mix DNA vs Hip Hop' by Adam Rutherford. It was excellent, covered everything from Charles II of France's bizarre family tree (his Grandma on his father's side was also his Great Grandma on his mother's side.) to a 1950's B Side track becoming one of the most used samples ever, to copyright and patenting of genes.

Beats watching paint dry.
