Brand New Day

If at first you don't succeed.

At the third attempt, I finally managed to get into Anne Frank's House today. Turned up at 8.45am this morning, it opened at 9 and I got in at 9.15. Got soaked a couple of times whilst waiting in the queue but glad I made the effort.

The OH had been there on a previous trip so after I left there, we met up at the Huis Marseille where there is a great photography exhibition about apartheid.

Quite a thought provoking morning!

The afternoon was completely different though as we had booked tickets to the cinema a few days ago to see The Sapphires. We would normally just have waited till this movie was available on Netflix or iTunes but the reason we went to see it was that it was being shown in the main hall of the Tuschinski cinema. Absolutely gorgeous building and this is the ceiling of the main hall.

Funny thing while we were there: film stopped after about 40 minutes and the first thing we thought was that the film had broken. Nope, it turned out we were in the over 50's screening that they do every Tuesday and there's an intermission so that you can get your free coffee and muffin that comes with the price of admission! Result.
