Lysichiton americanus

Aren't they amazing? At least I've found out what these strange yellow plants are: Lysichiton americanus, of the genus Araceae. They clearly love a watery environment, here in Benmore Gardens with one of the red rhododendrons whose flowers look like drops of blood among the dull green of their leaves.

I suspect we will once more be spending quite a bit of time in these wonderful gardens - there is something new to see every time we go, and at the moment everything is just beginning to sprout. Today it rained more than it was dry, but it was still a lovely walk which we're privileged to be able to enjoy.
