Dorset Coast Path: the way to Scratchy Bottom

Durdle Door and the Jurassic Coast between West Lulworth and Weymouth.

This is a view looking westwards, overlooking Durdle Door to the left. The town of Weymouth can just be discerned (but only in enlarged view) on the the horizon at the centre of this photo; the Isle of Portland is the wedge-shaped land immediately above the arch of Durdle Door.

Scratchy Bottom is the second of three folds which can be seen in the cliffs to the left. Its distance from West Lulworth is not all that great, but the steep paths ensure that you have an energetic walk.

The stone path leading down to the beach is unsafe and cordoned off. It looks as if its lower section has simply collapsed.

.....and yes, the sea was that colour. A beautiful morning both for photography and for a strenuous walk.
