Mayoral Memorial Arch, High Wycombe

High Wycombe has a history of constructing ceremonial arches to mark special occasions. In the past, these were built out of chairs, to mark the town's historic association with the furniture-making industry.

This year, the arch has a contemporary theme. It has been designed by students from the local university and its aim is to support two local charities.

A notice on the arch reads:
'The Arch was designed to raise awareness and become a temporary focal point for the charities, the One Can Trust (food bank) and Child Bereavement  UK. The idea is to donate a can in the Arch collection point, and donate and place a dedication for a lost loved one on the spacial wall. The dedication cards and ribbons can be obtained at the Arch on Saturday 5th April and from the Banks and shops on the High Street from the 5th to 15th April.
Our Mission over the two weeks is to fill the wall with messages, stock the food bank shelves, raise awareness and make a difference to real people's lives.'
