Sailing into the Sunset

This was the end of our first day in Santorini.

This greek island is famous for its wonderful views and features on most of the 'Places to Visit Before you Die' lists. I wholeheartedly agree - it's perfect.

We were lucky enough to spend a day sailing around the island on a replica pirate ship, stopping off to climb up the volcano in the centre of the famous caldera and also to swim in the sea.

The evening that we attended in August wasa special one - every year there is a commemoration o the volcanic eruption with a huge firework display from the volcano itself.
After a full day of sightseeing, we were able to relax on the boat with a glass of wine and watch the fireworks from the water - lovely!!
