Arrival of the Bumbles

It's been a glorious gardening day today and we set to work early doors on the lonnnnnng border which was seriously overgrown with creeping buttercup and nettles. There was bird activity all around us and I left gifts of moss and small sticks on the wall beneath the elder tree to help with the nest building, although we have already spotted a blackbird sitting on her nest in the clematis over the wall! A delivery guy arrived and was very relieved to hand over Tony's Christmas present from Jenny....a box of live bees! The box was actually buzzing. These are bumble bees and they have arrived to coincide with the fruit trees in readiness for pollination so we had to drop the gardening and sort the bees.
After Tony had secured the specially constructed hive in place, he opened their door and, if you look closely, you will see the first brave bumble bee to venture out! More blips of the set up of bumbles here!
