This is the time for the calm before the storm. The bees are building up in strength very nicely.

Soon it will be necessary to start putting new frames in to the hives to give the queen plenty of room to lay eggs. If this is done it acts as a discouragement to swarming and may, as a result, increase the yield of honey.

So here you see sheets of beeswax foundation being produced from molten wax. These sheets will then be put in to frames after being wired. There will be more about this tomorrow.

Beeswax when heated is volatile. It becomes explosive if over-heated.

Thus, when heating beeswax, it is necessary to boil it in water. That way it cannot over-heat.
