Snakes in the grass

These fritillaries have been growing here under my Acer maybe 15 years and very gradually spreading to make good little clumps.
It would be great to see some seedlings coming up nearby, but failing that I have planted a few more bulbs in the lawn in the hope that the wetter conditions we now have will allow them to thrive.
I do love their snake skin patterns, they are so exotic looking for a native wild flower.
